So all I have to do is show up?
If you are a participant, yes. If you’re a facilitator, you have a little more work to do… But only a little! You can find the set-up instructions here.
Why should I facilitate a group of my own?
The Just Show Up format doesn’t require much preparation. There is some upfront work like gathering materials, securing a meeting location, and inviting others, but after that, you just need to show up to every session. No homework! Through this, you will be building healthy communities, deepening friendships, and grow in understanding of the Christian faith.
How much does a gathering cost?
Financially? Nothing! Our desire is to see communities of Christians and potentially seekers to deepen their friendships, learn about the Christian faith, and grow in understanding of it.
What do I need to start a gathering?
If you already have an audio speaker, you’ll need to get the audiobook and enough printed copies of your desired title for each person in the group. If you are a first-time facilitator, contact us for a FREE welcome kit, including Audible credit and 6 free copies of Timothy Keller’s Prodigal God!
Why should each participant have a printed copy of the title we are listening to? Isn’t listening enough?
We highly recommend listening and reading at the same time as multi-sensory experiences increase knowledge retention and sharpens the participant’s focus.
Where can I purchase or borrow audiobooks?
Check out the links on our recommended book list here.
Do I have to use your book list?
We highly recommend starting with our recommended book list as they are carefully curated to facilitate discussion and learning at your gatherings.
I’m interested in a title that doesn’t have an audiobook. What should I do?
You and your group could take turns to read the book aloud. We suggest making the reading aloud voluntary so everyone is able to have a comfortable book club experience. Alternatively, you can pick another title with an audiobook.
Where should I host my JSU Book Club?
Anywhere participants can comfortably sit, listen, and discuss is perfectly acceptable! Your home/apartment, office, conference room, church, classroom, etc.
What discussions questions do I ask?
We have three simple suggestions: 1) What did you learn? 2) What you disagree with? 3) What did you enjoy?. You are welcome to formulate questions of your own but the Just Show Up Book Club format doesn’t require preparation. Feel free to keep it simple!
What happens when we finish the book?
Congratulations, you’ve successfully facilitated a Just Show Up Book Club! We’d love to see pictures of you and your group. Please send them to info@justshowup.club . We also welcome any feedback. Otherwise, we encourage you to consider going through another book together and make this simple format a life-long habit.
Are there other facilitators in my area? How may I contact them?
Currently, we are only able to support facilitators. As this movement grows, we hope to offer opportunities to connect interested participants to open groups. If you would like to facilitate a group, start here!

We’d love to chat with you over the phone to answer any questions and/or troubleshoot any issues! Drop us a line here.
